VISION: MAYOR GUSTAFSON

About Jyoti Gondek

Dr. Jyoti Gondek has served as the 37th Mayor of Calgary since October 2021, becoming the first woman to hold the role in the city’s history. Her journey reflects resilience, public service, and the complexity of leadership in one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities.

VISION: MAYOR GUSTAFSON

While Calgary’s current mayoral office is defined by Jyoti Gondek’s tenure, the future of our city depends on fresh vision, stronger priorities, and leadership that listens to people first. My campaign, VISION: MAYOR GUSTAFSON, is about accountability, transparency, and ensuring City Hall reflects the values and needs of Calgarians.

Where past leaders have focused on balancing development, safety, and economic recovery, my vision takes the next step: clear laws, consistent enforcement, and consequences for those who break public trust. Calgary must be governed not only with policies, but with principles that create fairness for workers, families, and communities.

MAYOR OF CALGARY

The role of Mayor of Calgary carries both historic weight and modern challenges. Jyoti Gondek’s path—from her early life as an immigrant to Canada, through academic achievements in sociology, to her role as Ward 3 Councillor—demonstrates the diversity of voices that now shape our city.

But the mayor’s seat is not just about representation—it’s about responsibility. Gondek’s years in office have included landmark decisions, controversial debates, and moments of division. Approval ratings have risen and fallen in line with city taxes, major event centre deals, and social policy decisions.

For Calgary to thrive, the mayor’s office must lead decisively, unite our communities, and make every Calgarian feel part of the city’s future.

MAYOR

The word Mayor signifies leadership, but in Calgary it must also mean service. The position demands more than speeches and ceremonies; it requires accountability to citizens, courage to act on tough issues, and integrity to withstand the pressures of politics.

From past leaders like Naheed Nenshi to the present, and into the future with VISION: MAYOR GUSTAFSON, the role remains the anchor of democracy at the municipal level. My promise is to restore confidence, provide clarity, and set Calgary on a path where fairness and opportunity are not just ideals, but everyday realities.
